Robyn was born Robin Miriam Carlsson in Stockholm, Sweden, and grew up in a family already connected to the performing arts. Both of her parents worked as actors, so artistic work was part of her world early on.¹

She began recording as a teenager and released Robyn Is Here in 1995. This debut album introduced her to a wider international audience.¹ Early success gave her visibility, but it didn’t define the full shape of her career. What followed was more interesting: a gradual move toward greater independence and a sound that felt more distinctly her own.
