About Rhythm Corps

Genre
Hard Rock / Metal

“I hope that our music inspires people to think positive thoughts and hopefully do the right thing.  On “Common Ground” we took on solidarity and the idea of ‘common ground,’ of nations coming together; on “The Future’s Not What It Used to Be” we deal more with dreams, with optimism, with wishful thinking.” ~ Davey Holmbo

In the 80’s, alternative rockers Rhythm Corps dominated the local Detroit music scene.  They released two indie label EPs; Pacquet De Cinq and Espirit De Corps which included two regional radio hits “Broken Haloes” and "Vanishes". The four original members Michael Persh (lead vocals/guitar), Greg Apro (lead guitar), Davey Holmbo (bass), and Richie Lovsin (drums) attracted a huge following with their compelling approach to songwriting that demonstrated both sensitivity and substance, along with a tremendous live show and excellent musicianship.  That combination, along with a large and devoted following, landed Rhythm Corps a deal with Pasha/CBS Records.  The union garnered two national releases “Common Ground” and “The Future Is Not What It Used To Be”.  The band’s most recognized single “Common Ground” hit No. 9 on the Mainstream Rock charts and was spotlighted during the international broadcast of the 1988 Olympics along with considerable MTV air play.

Rhythm Corps successfully combines the frustrated optimism of the Sixties with the uninhibited stance of modern music into a sleek and competitive hybrid.  The music is danceable, thoughtful, and inspiring as are their performance and stage presence.  The band is both as skillful and fiery NOW as they were when the music was written.
