Dictator Biography

Heartbreaking ballads and foot stomping indie bangers. This is a band with a strong focus on collaboration and an outspoken social conscious, they are vocal supporters of their local scene and have an intimate connection with their fanbase. Combining this with tongue in cheek social media antics and playful live performances ensures they are a consistent must see live act.

Inspirations are worn on their sleeves with clear nods to Gorillaz, Primal Scream,Glass Animals, Alt-J, Beck and London Grammar. They insist on pushing their musical boundaries, defying all labels and expectations and creating their own unique blend of Electronic Indie Pop.

Despite numerous lockdowns,  the band continued to release music and grow a committed fanbase in Scotland and beyond. Even adding in some A-list celebrity fans like Actor Robert Carlyle and gaining a support slot from musical peers Glasvegas. Hailing from the creatively fertile land of West Lothian, the band began on the same circuits as Lewis Capaldi and shared the same stages in previous iterations before eventually becoming Dictator and even shared a rehearsal room with chart-toppers The Snuts. All the releases have gained national network airplay with continual support from Radio X, BBC Radio 6Music, XS Manchester and  BBC Introducing.  With 'Days Gone By' winning The Weekender Magazine's Song of the Year 2020 and more recently they battled Swim School, Spyres and Memes to win the top spot for a SAMA (Scottish Alternative Music Award) in the best Rock/Alternative category 2021.
