Mapping the influences found in 21-year-old Mathilda Homer’s contemporary songwriting will take you from south London’s burgeoning live jazz scene, across the city and north to her family home, where she was raised on a formative musical diet of Eva Cassidy, Leonard Cohen and Nina Simone. Now, Mathilda’s blend of jazz, folk, pop, blues and soul finds inspiration across the spectrum of classic songwriting. Recent releases, including single ‘Baby Blue Eyes’ and EP ‘Sunny Like You’ have garnered support from Radio 1, 1xtra, BBC Introducing and a spread of press who dub Mathilda as one of 2020’s artists to watch.
