Trey Anastasio Band is the solo project for Phish's singer and guitarist Trey Anastasio. They have released nine studio albums, their latest Paper Wheels is set to released in the fall followed by a promotional tour. The group is best known for the album One Man's Trash and Shine. It has been a busy year for Anastasio as he played a series of dates for The Grateful Dead and will be touring across the United States with Phish.
The first incarnation of the Trey Anastasio Band was formed in 1998 to augment the vocals and guitar of Phish's Trey Anastasio. Members of the band have included such diverse musicians as drummer Russ Lawton and bassist Tony Markellis. Sometimes they perform as a trio, a sextet or an octet depending on what album he's promoting at the time. The current version of the Trey Anastasio Band is an octet featuring the rhythm section of Lawton & Markellis along with percussionist Cyro Baptista, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, Jennifer Hartswick trumpet player, trombonist Natalie Cressman and saxophonist James Casey.
The Trey Anastasio Band will be back on the road in the fall after their leader Trey finishes his commitments with Phish and they'll be promoting his latest album Paper Wheels. A few tracks from the upcoming album have debuted online already with the songs "Bounce," "Speak to Me" and "Never" appearing on his official website as free downloads. Fans of Phish and early seventies Grateful Dead will enjoy Trey's solo work because it is highly influenced by those bands. He also cares for his die hard fans because not only is Trey giving them free high quality tracks for download, but a puzzle to solve along with the music that will unlock clues about the mystery behind Paper Wheels.
