The Drawing Room is an organization comprised of NYC-based artists. From its humble establishment as an online social media site in 2009, the group has gone on to host a number of exhibitions that make visual art the focus via live events such as openings and gatherings. The group's first exhibition was at the Riverside Gallery in New Jersey followed by a showcase at the Powerhouse Arena located in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The third group exhibition was hosted at the Flushing Town Hall and was followed by an event at the Hutchins Gallery at the LIU Post. In 2015, The Drawing Room members gathered at the Nabi Museum of the Arts in Teaneck, NJ, and this year the group will be having their 6th exhibition called ‘Syncretized’ at the Space 776 which is located in the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood, Bushwick. The four artists are Jin Cho, Dong Kyu Kim, Sueim Koo, and Stephanie S. Lee.
The theme of this exhibition represents the concept that four very different artists with unique voices can get come together harmoniously. The exhibit focuses on enjoying each other’s art based on companionship. "In this broad and busy New York life, it’s not easy to have a friend who can exchange ideas freely and criticize each other’s work without jealousy or prejudice," said artist Stephanie Lee via the official press release. "The drawing room members count on each other moving forward in this chaotic art world. All members are from diverse professions and walks of life; however, they strive to promote its members’ visibility to the larger art audiences, and are bonded by one thing—art."
The exhibition will run from Sept. 16 to Sept. 25, 2016 at Space 776 (229 Central Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221). The opening reception will take place on Friday, Sept. 16, between 6pm and 8pm. To learn more, visit The Drawing Room website.
