Every year at this time, eager Lollapalooza fans begin trying to make educated guesses about who will be performing at the summer festival. This year, the stakes are bigger than ever, since the weekend fest is expanding to four days, offering dozens more performance slots than usual.

Lollapalooza has not yet confirmed a single act for its 2016 lineup. But by looking at bands' tour schedules and relying on insider sources, we can get a good sense for who might be playing. So which bands are rumored to be performing at Lollapalooza Chicago 2016?

The surest bet right now seems to be Radiohead. The Brits, who headlined Lolla in 2008, have been rumored for months, and their recently-released touring schedule does not feature a Chicago date. They're also playing Montreal's Osheaga Festival, which takes place the same weekend as Lollapalooza and often shares headliners with Lolla.

Radiohead will be headlining Osheaga along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lana Del Rey. All three of those acts are likely to headline Lolla as well, according to Consequence of Sound, which claims to have inside information about the Lolla lineup. That site also names LCD Soundsystem and J. Cole as headliners. That sounds like a reasonable group of headliners, with big-name rock bands, pop acts, and hip-hop acts as well.

As for mid-card performers, we have no confirmed acts, but the 1975, Miike Snow, M83, and Foals are among the rumored acts whose current tour schedules would work out perfectly with Lolla. Ditto for Disclosure and Bloc Party, both of whom are also playing Osheaga. Who else is playing Osheaga that could make an appearance at Lollapalooza? Contenders include Haim, the Lumineers, Frightened Rabbit, and Flume.

Lollapalooza 2016 takes place from July 28-31 in Grant Park in downtown Chicago. Tickets are expected to go on sale next week, with the official lineup reveal taking place at that time.
