The Governors Ball Festival is being held at Randall's Island in New York, NY on June 3-5 2016. The festival is a three celebration of music, food, and fun.
Governors Ball is so highly regarded that it has been included in lists of top festivals by the Rolling Stone and New York Times. Rolling Stone notes that this is the chance to see the gloriously unpredictable Kanye West in his only stateside appearance this summer.
The festival features a diverse line-up of artists. In addition to Kanye West, the line-up includes the Strokes, the Killers, Beck, Miguel, Chvrches, Courtney Barnett, Haim, Eagles of Death Metal, JamieXX, Torres, M83, Gary Clark Jr., Miike Snow, Bully, and more.
The popular festival draws a huge crowd. In order to assure the safety and comfort of guests, some items, like weapons and illegal drugs, are not allowed on the premises. Selfie sticks are banned because they can get in someone's sight line and spoil their view. Everyone is subject to search. It is best to travel light and just bring the items you need.
Do not bring weapons of any kind to the festival. This includes guns, firearms, knives, nunchucks, chains, chain wallets, bats and any other items that could be used as a weapon. In addition, fireworks and explosive devices are banned. They do not allow drones, laser pointers or selfie sticks on the grounds because they can be disruptive to other guests of the festival.
Illegal drugs and substances of any kind are prohibited.

There are guidelines for totems. They should be no higher than six feet tall and must be made of a lightweight material, like foam or cardboard. Totems made of wood, metal, or PVC material are not allowed. Likewise, any pole of metal or wood is prohibited.
They also ask that you leave emotional baggage and valuables at home. While theft has not been a problem at the festival, it is NYC and it pays to be cautious.
