2012 was absolutely the year of San Diego post-hardcore heroes, Pierce The Veil.
Having skyrocketed through, and to the top of, the post-hardcore scene, Pierce The Veil's third full-length studio album, Collide with the Sky, debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in addition to #1 on the Top Hard Rock chart, the Top Modern Rock chart, the Top Alternative Albums chart, and the Top Rock Albums chart. Top that! MTV named Pierce The Veil as a Buzzworthy Breakthrough Artist, and with good reason. Thus far, Collide with the Sky has sold nearly a quarter-million copies in the U.S. alone, and is still going strong.
The success of Collide with the Sky set in motion a whirlwind adventure that Piece The Veil has been on ever since. The year following this stellar release, the band swept the Alternative Press Readers Poll, taking awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Live Band of the Year, Cover Art of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Best Band Merch, Best Drummer, and Best Bassist of the Year. The video which won the band the best of award was for the song, "King For A Day," which has not only racked up a staggering 32-million YouTube views, but was also awarded "Best Video of the Year" at the Kerrang! Now in 2014, the band's critically-acclaimed documentary, "This is a Wasteland," won them a Revolver Golden God award for Best Film & Video, and most recently, Pierce The Veil has also received seven nominations at the first annual Alternative Press Music Awards, and won for Best Bassist, Best Drummer, and Song of the Year.
And now, with mantles already cluttered with award statues, it's time to do it again...
Piece The Veil has been hard at work at Dan Korneff's Sonic Deris Recording Studio in New York writing and recording material for brand new studio album. The yet untitled release is due out in January of 2015, and is being produced by Dan Korneff who worked with the band on Collide with the Sky...Pierce The Veil absolutely understand that you don't fix what isn't broken!
"We try to stay focused on writing and recording songs that we're happy with, that we like, songs that will be fun to play live and that our fans will want to sing along with, songs that offer a little something different, but are all still very much Pierce The Veil songs," commented lead vocalist Vic Fuentes in a press release.
Although January seems like a long way off, fans won't have to wait quite that long to hear some of the new material. Pierce The Veil is heading out on tour to co-headline 21 U.S. dates, the first leg of "The World Tour," a five month, multi-leg, worldwide extravaganza, with Florida post-hardcore soldiers, Sleeping with Sirens. This is one show you do not want to miss!
