This June will mark one year since Pierce the Veil released their last new song, “The Divine Zero.” The track, which was released in time for the band to jump on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour, was suppose to hold fans over until the group finished working on their highly anticipated fourth studio album. At the time, the record was supposed to see a release date of 2015, but that did not happen. On Thursday (March 24), everything changed when the California-based band finally gave their long-awaiting fans the first single off of their upcoming new album, Misadventures.
When the four-piece announced the release of Misadventures late last week, they also promised their fan base that a new song would debut. The new song is titled “Texas is Forever” and is a nodded to the band’s roots and the close to the story they had been singing about for the past few records. "'Texas is Forever' is a fast song, the fastest song we've ever done," explains Pierce the Veil bassist Jaime Preciado about the over three-minute clip.
"It goes back to our roots and is going to be a fun song to play live," adds frontman Vic Fuentes. "It's purely a self-indulgent song for us because it's really fast and that's what we grew up listening to. Lyrically, it closes the book on a relationship that I've been singing about over the last three albums." "Texas is Forever" is currently available on the band's website for streaming, but the song can currently be heard here.
In addition to the release of the new song, Thursday also marks the first day fans of PTV can start placing their orders for Misadventures. Those who pre-order the record ahead of time will receive an instant-grat download of "Texas is Forever." Misadventures is set to be released on May 13 through Fearless Records and is the follow-up to the group's massively successful third album, Collide with the Sky.
The upcoming release was produced by Dan Korneff whose credits includes Motionless in White, Sleeping with Sirens, and Pierce the Veil's own Collide with the Sky. In conjunction with the new album's release, the band has also teased that a massive tour will follow. At the current moment, the group has not elaborated on those plans.
