For its 8th anniversary, ShipRocked went bigger and better than ever before, upgrading to a three-ringed floating circus to deliver a true rock star experience. Fans boarded the Carnival Victory cruise ship for a circus-themed extravaganza of rock music. The sold out ship sailed to Grand Turk in Turks and Caicos from the port of Miami Jan. 16-20. Three main stages were set up on the ship, the largest being an outdoor Lido deck stage where fans could grab a drink and enjoy the show from anywhere and have the best seat in the house.

This year’s headliners included: Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach and Alter Bridge. Some of the up and coming acts provided some of the most exciting moments on the ship with their live performances. Lucky fans were also able to catch bands like Cane Hill, Wilson, Stitched Up Heart, Letter from the Fire and Crobot shred onstage throughout the week with standout performances.

This is the only place on earth where you can see Sevendust and Papa Roach compete in a game of Family Feud and Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge come very close to winning a beer pong contest in the same week.

Band members could be seen all throughout the boat taking photos and talking to fans. All bands also participate in meet and greets where fans can meet and take a photo with their favorite bands on Tuesday and Thursday.

ShipRocked is a place for rock fans of all ages to enjoy intimate performances almost 24 hours a day for four days. Rock and roll is very much alive on the high seas with this dedicated fanbase known as ShipRockers.

AXS was able to catch a behind the scenes look at the ship and capture some unique moments with informal portraits of all the bands onboard. Check out our gallery above and click here for more coverage of ShipRocked.
