November lineup of tribute bands at Amos’ Southend
Heart Brigade Tribute to Heart

Enter the way-back machine this November as Amos’ Southend, one of Charlotte’s largest private venues, hosts a Saturday night series of tribute bands. Four concerts bring the music of Journey, Heart, Motley Crue, Poison, AC/DC, Shinedown and the giants of metal back to the stage.

First up, on Nov. 8, 2014, Hair Nation - The Ultimate Hair Metal Experience! opens for legendary heavy metal band Winger at Amos’ beginning at 8 p.m. Hair Nation, based in Charlotte, covers metal classics from the 80s with a respect for the genre (and without wigs). They’ll open on Nov. 8 for Winger, one of the top hair bands of the 1990s. Winger reunited in the new millennium, recording IV, their first studio album in 13 years, in 2006.

On Nov. 15, 2014, Departure takes the stage performing a concert of Journey hits including chart-toppers “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Anyway You Want It.” Based in Atlanta, Ga., Departure is considered the top Journey tribute band in the Southeast and has been touring its act, which replicates the look and sound of the legendary 80s rock group right down to the stage moves of Steve Perry, for the past six years.

Opening for Departure is another tribute band, Heart Brigade, a national act recreating the great Heart hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Its playlist includes Heart classics such as “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You” and “Crazy On You” as well as hits from the Led Zeppelin repertoire. Hailed as the top Heart tribute band in the country, Heart Brigade is based in Raleigh, NC.

On Nov. 22, 2014, Amos’ hosts a triple-header of tribute bands as the Kings of Hollywood Tour returns to town, featuring tributes to the glam metal bands that came out of L.A. Sunset Strip clubs in the 1980s. Headlining the evening is Red White and Crue!, recreating Motley Crue hits including “Wild Side” and “Smokin in the Boys Room” note for note.

Sharing the bill is Poison'd, a tribute to the band Poison. Its set list includes accurate recreations of many Poison hits including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Look What the Cat Dragged In.”

Opening for Poison’d and Red White and Crue is the all-girl band Shoot To Thrill. Based in Raleigh, the band offers a high energy tribute to AC/DC, including hits such as “Back In Black” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

On Nov. 29, 2014, Hair Nation returns to Amos’ Southend, this time at the top of the bill, to wrap up the November series of tributes. Opening for the hair metal rockers is Sound Of Madness, performing an acoustic set of Shinedown songs, including the hits “Second Chance” and “Diamond Eyes.” Sound of Madness is a Charlotte-based Shinedown tribute band.

All shows are at Amos’ Southend at 1423 S. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28203. Tickets range from $10 to $23.
