Meghan Trainor's playful 'Lips Are Movin' video features social media stars

The music video for Meghan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin” is every bit as playful, bright, and fun as her debut video, “All About That Bass.” In the new clip, which premiered today, the young singer-songwriter tells off a deceitful guy while hanging out with a group of Internet celebrities.

The video was the result of an unusual partnership between Trainor and computer/technology company HP, which recruited a group of social media influencers to appear in the clip as part of the company’s #BendtheRules campaign. Among those in the video with the singer are popular Instagram, Vine, and YouTube personalities like Marcus and Cody Johns, Mei Kawajiri, Bri Emery, and even Barkley the Pom, a Pomeranian with more than 370,000 followers on Instagram.

The song and video are both full of the sassy attitude that helped Trainor earn a Best New Artist nomination at the American Music Awards. She dances while singing, “I know you lie because your lips are movin’/ Tell me do you think I’m dumb? / I might be young, but I ain’t stupid / Talking circles with your tongue." Trainor’s label is not currently allowing the video to be embedded, but you can go to YouTube to check it out.

Trainor shows off a number of different looks in the clip. She wears a sparkly cat dress in one scene, then reclines on a chair designed to look like a set of bright red lips. The shots of Trainor interacting with the social media stars are mixed in with close-ups of mouths that look like they were taken straight from a lipstick commercial, as well as clips of Trainor singing in front of a pastel blue wall.

“Lips Are Movin” is the second single from Trainor’s debut album Title, which now has an official release date of January 13. “All About That Bass” reached No. 1 on Billboard, and “Lips Are Movin” is a good bet to do the same. This week, it races up another 23 spots to No. 50 on the singles chart.

In addition to her AMA nod, Trainor is a contender for a European MTV Music Award and two People’s Choice Awards. She kicks off a big headlining tour on February 11 in Vancouver. Keep reading AXS for the latest news on Meghan Trainor.
