Listen: Walk the Moon rocks the disco on new single 'Shut Up and Dance'

Pop-rock outfit Walk the Moon premiered the new single "Shut Up and Dance" on Sunday (June 22). The giddy dance anthem previews the band's third studio album.

Walk the Moon - comprised of members Nicholas Petricca, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman and Eli Maiman - first released its debut album i want! i want! independently in 2010. The raucously fun single "Anna Sun" was put out soon after and it took two years to really take off, putting the band on the Billboard charts in late 2012. The success of "Anna" led Walk the Moon to a record deal with RCA that year and the release of its self-titled album. Following a number of sold-out shows, the band took some time off before recording sessions began for album no. 3. Petricca and co. are now raring to go for this next record so they dropped by the radio station 101 WKQX in Chicago to premiere the new single "Shut Up and Dance."

"Shut Up and Dance" is a whimsical love affair on the dance floor. Walk the Moon funks up its sound a bit for this release. The band's power pop spirit is still very much alive, though, with Petricca delivering a massive chorus over soaring electronic guitar. His lyricism continues to charm in the most coolest ways. "My discotheque, Juliet, teenage dream," Petricca sings to sneakers-rocking gal. Walk the Moon tore up a small town on "Anna Sun" and now the band is ready to do similar damage to the discos with "Shut Up and Dance."

Walk the Moon's third studio album is expected to be released later this year on RCA Records. The band's major label debut Walk the Moon peaked at no. 34 on Billboard's albums chart in 2012. Petricca and co. will open for Panic! at the Disco on a few tour dates this summer. Be sure to check out Walk the Moon's page on for ticket sales and updates as they happen.
