Journey and Santana will pair up for a trio of U.S. concert dates in April. The joint announcement comes on the heels of Journey founding member Neil Schon's recent participation with ex-bandmate Carlos Santana in reuniting the classic line up of his former band in the studio to produce Santana IV, that will hit shelves on April 15 via Sony/Santana IV Records.
According to an article posted Jan. 25 at Ultimate Classic Rock, the pair of multi-platinum sellers will kick off the co-headline dates on April 13 in New York at Madison Square Garden. The "Don't Stop Believin'" hitmakers and the "Black Magic Woman" hitmakers will next perform on April 15 in Uncasville, Connecticut, at Mohegan Sun Arena and wrap up on April 16 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, at PPL Center.
Pre-sales for the New York and Uncasville shows are available now. Pre-sales for the Allentown date will begin on Feb. 1. Tickets for the first two shows go on sale to the public starting Jan. 29 and for Allentown on Feb. 5. For more information, click here or here.
The two iconic bands have shared the stage on rare occasion in the past. Carlos Santana and original Santana lead singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie joined Journey on Aug. 28, 2013 in Las Vegas at Pearl at the Palms. Santana and Journey also shared a bill with for dates in Mexico back in March 2015.
Schon originally joined Santana back in 1971 and participated in the recording of Santana III. The veteran guitarist left to found Journey in 1973 with Rolie exiting as well to begin a solo career.
Journey recently welcomed the return of classic-era drummer Steve Smith and will hit the road following the April dates with The Doobie Brothers and special guest ex-Traffic co-founder Dave Mason. Dubbed "The San Francisco Fest 2016 Tour," the trek kicks off May 12, 2016 in Irvine, California, at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre and will wrap up Aug. 30, 2016 in Chula Vista, California, at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. Tickets for select dates are available at AXS.
Santana is currently wrapping up his Las Vegas residency at The House of Blues and will hit the road with his Luminosity Tour of North America in support of Santana IV beginning March 3 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Neal S. Blaisdell Arena. Fans can catch him in the meantime at his next House of Blues gig on Jan. 27.
