Jim Breuer delivers controversial bit on America's World Cup loss

Admit it, you got caught up in the excitement of the World Cup, didn't you? And with good reason, it was a monumental series as rousing as the "Rocky" movies... well, the better ones, at least. This year's World Cup captivated the nation and made soccer fans out of every single red-blooded American in the country. Except one. Last night, in his stand-up routine for AXS TV at New York's Gotham Comedy Club, Jim Breuer delivered a caustic bit where he took some hard-hitting, but eye-wateringly hysterical shots at the 2014 World Cup phenomenon. If you missed Jim's live performance, don't worry it will be rebroadcast on July 9 at 9 p.m. on AXS TV's "Gotham Comedy Live." To whet your appetite for next week's hilarity, however, AXS.com is offering access to two clips that were leaked directly to AXS.com via AXS TV.

The opinions expressed on "Gotham Comedy Live" are all Jim's, but now that the excitement is fading, he might be saying the things the rest of America wants to say, but are afraid to. Nobody wants to appear unpatriotic. Especially on the 4th of July! Breuer opens his bit with the biting remark, "Nobody in here cares about the World Cup... Nobody. Nobody! And if you did, you're lying or you're not from the country."

In a second clip, he continues, "Did you care when the Americans lost ... who was the big team? They tied it with seconds. What was it? Oh, you don't remember?! Who? ... Portugal."Despite the humor, Breuer makes a well-founded point about how quickly the details from a previously all-consuming news story flee from the public's thoughts.

As stated in his bio, "With over 20 years of stand-up comedy experience, Jim Breuer remains one of today’s top entertainers and continues to win over audiences with his off-the-wall humor and lovable personality. Named one of Comedy Central’s 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time, Breuer is one of the most recognizable comedians in the business, known for his charismatic stage antics, dead-on impressions, and family-friendly stand-up. In addition to keeping busy on his current comedy tour, Breuer can be heard on his weekly Sirius/XM Radio show 'Fridays with Breuer,' featuring guests such as Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Dennis Leary, and Jeff Foxworthy."

AXS TV is committed to offering more live programming than anyone else. The station dives deep into the world of comedy with its series entitled "Gotham Comedy Live." Each Thursday, AXS TV airs the live performance of some of the funniest comics in America delivering their show live from the Legendary Gotham Comedy Club in New York.
