Once the taxes are paid it’s time to party. What better way to do that than to see Denny Laine who was a member of Paul McCartney’s iconic group Wings. The show was announced today, March 4th, 2015 on Forever Abbey Road and confirmed at the venue’s website, 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, Tennessee. Laine was one of the co-founders of McCartney’s post Beatles band Wings and also collaborated on a good amount of the bands musical material that they recorded. They were one of most successful and popular rock bands of the seventies.
While there were lineup changes as fame progressed Laine and McCartney were constants in the band. He co-wrote the largest selling single in the history of the UK called “Mull of Kintyre” with Paul McCartney. In 1977 the song broke records that had previously been held by music the Beatles released making it the most popular UK tune at that time or any time prior. No stranger to fame, Denny got his start in another popular band, the Moody Blues. In fact he even wrote as well as sang lead on the groups first smash hit in 1964, entitled “Go Now”.
This special one night only performance is going to feature a cross section of tunes that people will recognize. Not only will he be doing songs that are part of his own solo career but he will be playing and singing tunes from the Moody Blues and Paul McCartney and Wings in the show. Also appearing on this show is a band called the Cryers who is a great five piece group that has a nice rocking sound. They play a nicely rounded rock and roll that will easily compliment Denny’s songs. The show opener is John Salaway a singer songwriter whose album “A Song in the Air,” was named the best Independent pop/rock album release by Examiner.com. John has shared the stage with such artists as Peter Frampton as well as Ben Folds and a multitude of others.
With this diversity of talent it is hard to imagine a reason not to attend the event with ticket prices ranging from $15.00 to $39.50. The doors open at 5:00 PM and the show begins promptly at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available at the venue or the link at the venue’s website to Ticket Web. Beatle fans, fans of Paul McCartney and Wings, fans of the Moody Blues all have a reason to check this out. Nashville is going to be rocking on April 22, 2015.
