Beck's Album of the Year Grammy award surprised everyone: Kanye West reacted

According to Fox News on Feb. 9, Kanye West went on stage when Prince announced that Beck was the winner of the Album of the Year during the 57th Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California that was hosted for the fourth time by LL Cool J. It was a surprise to everyone that Beck was the winner, beating out Sam Smith, Beyonce, Pharrell and Ed Sherran. Pharrell, Beyonce and Smith did not go home empty-handed. They all won Grammys.

The singer-songwriter's win was the shock of the night when his Morning Phase won Best Album of the Year. It also won Best Rock Album. Even though the 44-year-old musician has been in the business for a long time, many people had never heard of him. Beck, himself, was surprised he won.

How West responded was almost a repeat of what he did at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when he interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech when her "You Belong With Me" beat Beyonce's "Single Ladies" for Female Video of the Year.

West went on stage with Beck, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he turned away and quickly jumped down. However, it was reported that when West appeared at an E! network's after party, he stated that he thought Beyonce was going to win. He also said, "I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyonce." Beck didn't complain about West's action. Instead, he lavished praise on the rapper by saying he admired him for the great records he has produced.
