The Video Music Awards, MTV’s popular end of summer award show blowout, will return to sunny Los Angeles this August, making the trip back from the east coast at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2016. The star-studded awards telecast will broadcast live from the Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 27, at 8 p.m. EST., the network announced on Thursday.

This will be the first time that the VMAs will take place at the popular Los Angeles arena since 2014. Over the past decade, the ceremony has changed locations between the two major cities almost annually with venues including Barclays Center, Staples Center, Radio City Music Hall, Microsoft Theater and of course MSG to name a few.

“The City of Inglewood welcomes the return of the MTV VMAs to the number 1 concert venue in California, the Forum,” Los Angeles Mayor James Butts said in a press release statement. “Once again, Madison Square Garden set the standard for both East and West Coasts.”

Shelli Azoff, a Managing Partner at the Forum also added by saying, “This year is sure to be another epic show with many incredible memories for MTV, the award winners, and especially the fans.”

MTV should be hoping for a resurgence in viewers in 2017. Last year’s telecast numbers hit an all time low in the ratings category, reportedly only bringing in 6.5 million viewers, down nearly 4 million from 2015.
