Modest Mouse reveals new single from long awaited LP

Modest Mouse are making their long awaited return to music with the upcoming double album Strangers to Ourselves slated for a March 3 release. To give fans a taste of the new LP, the band revealed the first single, “Lampshades on Fire”. The single is available to stream online. Those who pre-order the album via Amazon or iTunes will get a download for the single instantly. The LP will be able on both CD and vinyl, as well as a special bundle containing a shirt, hoodie, or posters signed by artist Shepard Fairey. So far, the complete tracklist hasn't been revealed.

Previously, it was reported former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic would appear on the album. Speaking with Spotify, Novoselic said:

"I did a song with Modest Mouse earlier this year for their new record. It's pretty edgy. I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out... this bass riff."

This will be their first new release since 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. The band has performed and some of their albums have been re-released since then, but were ambiguous about another album up until this point. While the band has mentioned touring in 2015 to support the new album, dates have yet to be announced.
