Matt White's music is hip as well as mainstream

Matt White is one the most successful young American singer/songwriters of the last 10 years. Born in New Jersey but now based out of NYC, his debut full length album release on Geffen Records was a Billboard Top 5 entry on their Top Heatseekers chart.

He is an artist whose recordings have been featured in a highly impressive number of television shows and films. A partial list of song placements includes on the small screen: "Laguna Beach," "The Real Orange County," "One Tree Hill," "What About Brian," "Men in Trees," "The Hills," and in the films- "Shrek the Third," "What Happens in Vegas," "She's the Man," " Little Manhattan," " Because I Said So," "Wedding Crashers," " Hotel for Dogs" and "Over Her Dead Body."

After graduating college. White put in some time as a street performer in and around Greenwich Village before moving on to working in clubs, including Joe's Pub and The Living Room. His up and coming status at the time was confirmed by a Myspace friends list of over 50,000.

White first released an EP, Bleecker Street Stories, in 2006. His debut album, Best Days, followed in 2007. That year Rolling Stone magazine included White in their "10 Artists to Watch" list, and Best Days also made Details magazine's "best new music bubbling from the underground" honors.

White studied piano growing up and was first interested in classical music. At college he added guitar to his instrumental mastery though he still often features a keyboard dominant sound, as on hits like "Sunshine." His songs are melody driven alternative adult oriented pop/rock with lyrics that speak of emotions and concerns that are easy to relate to and appeal to a wide listenership. His live renditions of such favorites as "Falling In Love (With My Best Friend)" are polished and at the same time casual and intimate.

He has toured extensively, sharing stages with such acts as John Mayer, One Republic, Third Eye Blind and Counting Crows. His shows are always a hot ticket.

White recently co-wrote the tune "Vertigo," a duet recorded by superstars Jason Derulo and Jordan Sparks.

Matt White's most recent release is the EP Love Songs.
