Marc Anthony celebrates in Puerto Rico: Maestro Cares orphanage and two concerts

Not only does he have a heart and voice for singing but also a heart and voice for children. Top renowned salsa artist Marc Anthony laid the first rock Thursday afternoon for his foundation's next home to be built in Anthony's beloved island Puerto Rico.

Marc Anthony led the ceremony at the property of San Lucas Hospital in Ponce for Maestro Cares Foundation's fourth home for 'his' children. After 20 years, El Hogar San Miguel will move to its new home added to San Lucas Hospital. It will house children ages 8 to 17 that have been taken away from their homes due to abuse, have suffered physically and emotionally and are in need of hospital attention. The new installation will include a kitchen, dining room, dorms, library, sports area, playground and other amenities.

The ground breaking ceremony was attended by Ponce's mayor Maria ‘Mayita’ Melendez, Henry Cardenas CMN Events president and Anthony's Maestro Cares Foundation partner; Reverend Wilfredo Ramos Orench and special guest model Shalimar Rivera. In addition, there were children in attendance to witness what is to be their new home.

Maestro Cares has built orphanages in La Romana, Dominican Republic (first one 2014); Barranquilla, Colombia and currently under construction in Mexico. For Maestro Cares Foundation information, to make donations or be a volunteer, go to Maestro Cares Foundation.

The beginning of each and every of our new homes are always a reason to celebrate and that we are able to achieve this in my land Puerto Rico, fills me with pride and satisfaction).
