During the summer of festivals and tours, one party, the Mad Decent Block Party to be exact has been weaving it's way through the country (and globe) and doesn't have any intentions on stopping until November. One stop, in particular, boasts a spicy line-up, that caters to hip-hop heads, dancers and EDM lovers specifically, on August 22nd at Denver's Fiddler's Green. The diverse bill includes OutKast, Diplo, Djemba Djemba, Flosstradamus, Griz, Liz, Mr. Carmack, Riff Raff, Run the Jewels and Tink. This eclectic line-up, though seemingly random, in fact have one major factor in common, energy.
The day to night party will kick off at 3 p.m. and the grassy knoll that is Fiddler's Green and will bump well into the evening. Though the only true hip-hop representatives are OutKast, Run the Jewels, and maybe Riff Raff, both Fosstradamus and Mr. Carmack's EDM/hip-hop fusion will make for a great segue between the two genres. Diplo, Djemba Djemba, and Griz will keep the crowd pumped with their bass heavy EDM and the two ladies, Liz and Tink will represent for young pop and rap respectively.
OutKast has been touring all summer, after kicking off their reunion with Coachella, and their visit to Colorado marks the first dual performance in years, making this one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences, especially for younger fans. Run the Jewels (Killer Mike and El-P) have been steady dominating shows and airwaves, making their appearance at Fiddler's a highly anticipated one. Riff Raff has been making regular stops in the area, but his fan base in the Mile High City is strong.
Though not a complete reincarnation, the Mad Decent Block Party has swooped in during 2014 to pick up where former traveling festivals left off (think Rock the Bells or Paid Dues), filling a gap left by the absence of these types of tours over the last few years. This all ages event will close out the summer in a way that only a high-energy show like this one can.
