The three-time Grammy-nominated Danish band is fronted by Lukas Forschhammer. Billboard described his singing and songwriting as angelic in a feature article published Feb. 2, 2017. The album 7 Years, and its namesake song, were both nominated for album and song of the year at the 2017 Grammy awards.
“7 Years” was written for Forschhammer’s father, who passed away in his early 60s. The melancholy song tells the story of the way people wander through life, which can be over suddenly. When someone looks back, they wonder what they even accomplished.
Forschhammer was raised in Christiana, a self-governing compound surrounded by Copenhagen. The hippie ideals clash with crime and the street gangs. He has philosophical leanings, but sometimes a rough edge is apparent, as seen in the Billboard article. He recently became a dad when he and his girlfriend had a baby girl in October.
Lukas Graham performed on ABC’s televised “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on March 14, 2017. The attached video shows the band playing “You’re Not There” and “Take the World by Storm.” They also performed the upbeat party song “Drunk in the Morning.”
The band is currently touring in Europe but will be in the U.S. for the May show at Soundwaves at Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas. Tickets are available at AXS, priced at $25-$29 per person.
