Colombian music legend Carlos Vives premiered his new single "La Bicicleta" on May 31. He teams up with fellow Colombian superstar Shakira on the special track.
"La Bicicleta" (English: "The Bicycle") is the lead single from Carlos' upcoming album, Vives. Since the '80s, he has been a fixture in the Latin American music scene, going strong with each release. For his fourth decade in the game, Vives finally teamed up with fellow Colombian artist Shakira, who has achieved fame on a worldwide scale. She was moved by "La Bicicleta" when he played it and wanted to jump on the track. The two have got quite the jam on their hands.
Vives co-wrote "La Bicicleta" with Shakira. The dance track pulls from sounds indigenous to Colombia with a reggaeton spin. Atop accordion and shuffling beats, the two trade verses about living an easy life filled with love. Carlos includes some choice allusions to Shakira's career when he sings her praises. They compliment each other well with this breezy and beautiful collaboration. Expect their fans to hop on "Bicicleta" for a real good time.
The "La Bicicleta" single is now available on iTunes and Apple Music. Vives recently filmed a music video with Shakira where the two rode around Barranquilla on their bikes. He has not yet announced a premiere date for the clip. Expect his Vives album to be released later this year. Shakira recently starred in Disney's Zootopia as Gazelle and released the soundtrack single, "Try Everything," written by Sia.
