KISW presents must-see hard rock and metal shows for December 2014

December is another month filled with hard rock and metal shows at some of Seattle's best concert venues. Several of the shows are all-ages, so if your kids are fans, bring them along - they just can't go into the venue's bar areas. Some of the top shows for December include Hatebreed, Butcher Babies, Exodus, and then the two all-female tribute bands - Bleed Together (Soundgarden) and Allison Chains (Alice In Chains). This all-ages show features headlining band Exodus, who hail from Richmond, California. Exodus has a career of more than 30 years and to date, have released a total of 10 albums. The band's latest album release, Blood In, Blood Out, was just released in October 2014 and is their fifth studio album since the band's reformation in 2001. Metallica's lead guitarist Kirk Hammett was one of the original founding members of Exodus and stayed with the band from 1980 to 1983, when he officially joined Metallica. Current longtime members of Exodus include lead vocalist Steve Souza, drummer and original member Tom Hunting, guitarist and original member Gary Holt, bassist Jack Gibson and guitarist Lee Altus.

This 21-and-over show features two local, all-female tribute bands, Bleed Together and Allison Chains. Bleed Together is from Seattle and pays tribute to Soundgarden, while Allison Chains is Los Angeles-based and pays tribute to Alice In Chains. These two all-female tribute bands are the only ones of their kind in the world and deliver some impressive licks, harmonies and seasoned performances, all while paying tribute to their favorite iconic Seattle grunge bands.

This is another 21-and-over only show at Seattle's Studio Seven that features headlining band Sponge, along with opening bands Stonebender, South Kitsap Infidels, Snaktopus and more. Sponge is an alternative rock band from the Detroit area that formed in 1991. All current members - vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarists Kyle Neely and Andy Patalan, bassist Tim Patalan and drummer Billy Adams – were formerly in the rock band Loudhouse. Sponge has released eight albums with the latest, Stop the Bleeding, coming out in 2013.

This all-ages show at The Showbox features headliner The Tea Party, a blues and progressive rock band from Ontario, Canada. The band was originally together from 1990 to 2005 and then reformed in 2011, releasing the album Live from Australia in 2012 and The Ocean at the End in Sept. 2014. Band members include lead vocalist and guitarist Jeff Martin, bassist Stuart Chatwood and drummer Jeff Burrows. The opening act of the night, Jaded Mary, hails from Seattle, Washington, and in the past has been chosen by KISW, The Rock of Seattle, as the "Loud and Local band of the week."

Originally formed in Tucson, Arizona, as The Black Supersuckers, the band Supersuckers is an American rock band that relocated to Seattle in 1989. They have proclaimed they are the "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World" and have released 19 albums with the latest Get the Hell, being released in 2014 on Acetate Records. Supersuckers has toured with many notable rock and metal bands including White Zombie, Motorhead, Mudhoney, Social Distortion, The Ramones and The Butthole Surfers.

Hatebreed and the Butcher Babies have added another show in Washington State, in addition to the one they are playing on Dec. 28 with Black Label Society at Spokane's Knitting Factory Concert House. This new show at Studio Seven is an all-ages show with the additional acts of American Wrecking Company and Ashes of Existence. Hatebreed is an American metalcore band founded in 1994 and is led by lead vocalist, frontman and original member Jamey Jasta. Other members of the band include bassist Chris Beattie, guitarists Wayne Lozinak and Frank Novinec, and drummer Matt Byrne.
