Kids in the Hall's Kevin McDonald to launch live variety podcast

Kevin McDonald already has an impressive comedy resume which includes his role as a founding member of the iconic Canadian sketch group, The Kids in the Hall, and his recent foray into stand-up following the 2015 release of his debut album, Making Faces. Now, McDonald is adding the title of podcast host to his sprawling comedy career as he is gearing up for the debut episode of his new show, “Kevin McDonald's Kevin McDonald Show.”

The new podcast is set to premiere with the Forever Dog Podcast Network on Aug. 1 following a July 28 live taping at Union Hall in Brooklyn. “Kevin McDonald's Kevin McDonald Show” features McDonald performing an old-school variety hour that features his famous friends, musical acts, brand new sketches and uninhibited tomfoolery. The July 28 taping will include a performance from Crash Test Dummies frontman, Brad Roberts, as well as a yet to be announced, “but sure to be great,” comedy guest. The event is 21 and over and tickets are available for $15 in advance.

The announcement of McDonald's new podcast didn't come as a surprise to us here at AXS as he hinted that it would be something that he would love to do when we chatted with him during an exclusive interview last year. “I would love to do a regular podcast, variety show like my album, where I would do less stand-up and a few more sketches and get a couple guests involved,” he said.

Along with his vast experience performing live in front of an audience, McDonald has also been featured in a number of hilarious TV series. “That '70s Show,” “Seinfeld,” “Friends” and “Arrested Development” are just a few shows on which he has appeared. McDonald was also featured in “Tim and Eric's Awesome Show” and in the music video for “Roses” by Outkast. McDonald's famous voice can be heard in such animated projects as “Lilo & Stitch,” “The Penguins of Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.” In the not-so-distant future, McDonald will appear in the upcoming films “The Hindenburg Explodes!” – which was co-created by Rob Corddry – and “Room for Rent.”
