After a few stops and starts, no-shows and some fake outs, grime rapper Skepta finally appeared on stage at a sold-out Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. The show comes about a year overdue. Skepta was scheduled to perform at last year’s Coachella but visa issues prevented the MC from appearing on stage in Indio. No such trouble this year, as Skepta performed at Coachella week one and also got a sideshow in on Monday, April 17. While the venue announced opening performances from Boy Better Know cohorts Frisco and Shorty, neither appeared in an opening capacity (they showed up later during Skepta's set, though.) Instead, the crowd was treated to two DJ sets before Skepta finally appeared. But it was worth it, as the Tottenham rapper bounded on stage and commanded the audience of English and American fans--day ones and new ones--with a set that included most of his Mercury Prize-winning record Konnichiwa.
