June is nearly here and with it comes the proper start of Summer. With hot days giving way to warm nights, June is the perfect time to catch a concert under the stars and there are few better places to see a show in California than the idyllic Santa Barbara Bowl.
Though not packed with concerts, there’s still a little something for everyone this month at the SB Bowl. La Arrolladora Banda El Limón - Fri., June 9
With nearly 20 million Facebook followers, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón has been a favorite with both Mexican and American audiences for over 40 years. The group’s musical director René Camacho is a legendary figure in Mexican music and the band’s large, rotating lineup has earned them fans across multiple generations. Local modern rock station KJEE returns to the SB Bowl with another packed lineup for the 13th edition of their popular Summer Round Up concert. This year, the theatrical dance pop group Empire of the Sun will be headlining, with the diverse slate of Bishop Biggs, Judah & The Lion and Soul Majestic opening in support. Boston - Sun., June 11
Packed front-to-back with classics like “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind” and “Rock and Roll Band,” Boston’s 1976 self-titled album is one of the best-selling debuts of all-time. Following their 40th anniversary tour last year, Boston is heading back out on the road with a new tour that will once again celebrate the band’s immeasurable contributions to the classic rock cannon. The California reggae rock band Rebelution makes music that is ideally suited for warm summer nights and their show at the SB Bowl as part of the aptly-named Good Vibes Summer Tour will be a homecoming concert for the Isla Vista natives. The French electronic duo Air have crafted some of the most sumptuous chill out music of the past two decades. In 2016, the group released the career-spanning compilation Twentyears, an excellent entry-point to their lush and beguiling sound.
