In award season, there are often many discussions revolving around the validity of nominations and winners because of the inherent bias that comes from a voting system. However, the Billboard Music Awards bucks those concerns by using their collected data from their year-end chart which weighs Nielsen sales data, downloads and airplay in selecting the nominees.

Even before the show in Las Vegas at the freshly built T-Mobile Arena on May 22, award winners were announced. Some noteworthy award winners include Las Vegas residents Celine Dion who won the ICON Award and Britney Spears who took home the Billboard Millennium Award. The most predictable wins come in The Weeknd (who had 19 nominations), Adele, and Taylor Swift. Hosts Ludacris and Ciara held the entire show together along with the numerous, talented performers including Justin Bieber, P!nk and DNCE.

The show airs live on ABC at 8PM ET/ 5PM PT on May 22. See the full list of winners below and keep up with all of the Billboard Music Award coverage from AXS, including on-the-ground and in-the-moment reporting.
