THEIR FIRST MAJOR LABEL ALBUM – WAR ALL THE TIME – CELEBRATES IT’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY
New Jersey – June 2023
A#er a monumental 2022, that saw Thursday play main support to My Chemical Romance in packed arena’s
all the way from Barclays Center in Brooklyn to The Forum in Los Angeles, never-mind embarking on their
own 45 date sold out club and theatre tour (with the mighty Cursive in tow) 2023 was supposed to be a year
of rest for seminal post hardcore ouFit Thursday. Rhythm secHon Tucker Rule and Tim Payne released and
toured their prolific L.S. Dunes album, Steve Pedulla remained highly sought a#er, in the world of music
videos and television producHon, whilst vocalist Geoff Rickly not only toured the USA as a solo arHst and
internaHonally as a member of No DevoHon, but is also on the cusp of releasing his highly anHcipated debut
Nevertheless, the lure of Thursday was able to circumnavigate the constraints of their individual diaries and
a#er the band gathered together in May to play the inaugural Adjacent FesIval in AtlanIc City, they elected
to tour down the AtlanHc coast in September.
Geoff Rickly elaborates on the reasoning. A"er spending what feels like an eternity watching the war in Ukraine on television, it was all brought home
to us when a collec<ve of musicians in war torn Ukrainia covered our War All The Time song and changed the
lyrics from In The Shadow Of The New York Skyline to In The Shadow Of The Kiev Skyline. It was a poignant
The band immediately called their favorite Ukranian - Riot Fest founder Riot Mike to share this cover of the
song and asked what they could do to help local efforts. Rather serendipitously, Riot Fest fell upon the very
week that War All The Time was released upon an unsuspecHng public 20 years ago and a pledge was made
by the band to aid their friends in Kiev however they could. Thursday were subsequently invited to become
the first band to play Riot Fest three years in a row and the seeds for September performance were set.
To further celebrate the 20th birthday of the War All The Time record they further decided to rent a classic
(and giganHc) Hudson River-Boat and invited 1,200 of their closest friends to join them as they sailed to the
historic Palisades Cliffs in New Jersey whilst they played the album in full. This maiden voyage sold out in less
than a minute.
The band were also invited to perform the album in it’s enHrety as part of the Furnace Fest at the gargantuan
Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. It was obvious that they needed to play more shows!
Tucker Rule: We saw that we had these sparodic shows in September between our Boat Shows, Riot Fest and
Furnace. A"er we came off stage at Adjacent Fes<val (on labor-day weekend) we knew that we had
to fill the gap. Playing together again a"er a six-months break was an amazing feeling.
THURSDAY ARE AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEWS – [email protected]
Renowned for having their fingers on the pulse of creaHvity, Thursday has a long history of touring with only
the best bands! Coheed and Cambria, Thrice, Poison The Well, AFI, Portugal The Man, Murder By Death,
Touche Amore, Bring Me The Horizon, Circa Survive and The Gaslight Anthem have all been invited to share
stages with them in the past and this September tour is no different with Gel, PinkshiS, Koyo and Vinnie
Caruana all coming along for the ride.
Geoff Rickly: It’s hard to find places that we haven’t played before or haven’t played in a while. It’s even
harder to find exci<ng bands to play with. With this September tour we feel that we have found both. Having
Gel on board is a real coup for us – not only are they one of my favorite bands but they are New Jersey locals!
Watching their ascension is a true joy to behold. Koyo are going to join us on the back half of the tour and we
cannot wait for their debut album to drop in September. To be alongside them as this happens is an honor.
Bal<more’s finest Pinkshi" will be joining us for the start of the run and the sense of solidarity in watching a
band truly break the mould is so fun! Our old friend and yours Vinnie Caruana will round out the bill with his
decades worth of excep<onal stories and songs.
Steve Pedulla concurs: It’s been awesome to see the scene thriving with so many great young bands and it
feels good to know that the spirit of where we came from is s<ll alive and well.
Thursday collecHvely express: We cannot wait to go play War All The Time in its en<rety on the water and the
So What and Furnace fes<val stages but we are also super excited to delve deep into our catalogue and create
a set list for these September headline shows that features material from across our en<re career. We have
been going deep on selec<ons!
Thursday are a band from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Formed in 1998 and with world-wide album sales in
the millions, the band has released six criIcally acclaimed albums. Their September 2003 Island Def Jam
record 'War All The Time’ is considered one of the pivotal and most influenIal post-hardcore albums of the
aughts. The story of the record and the major label feeding frenzy of the period that saw Thursday, Green
Day, At The Drive In, Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance all ge_ng signed was documented in Dan Ozzi’s
New York Times best-selling book ‘Sellout’ of which a picture of Thursday graced the front cover.
