Looking back at their recent beginning, RBD arose out of the TV show Rebelde, which featured the sextet as the lead characters. Debuting on Televisa in October 2004, the show followed six students at an elite boarding school in Mexico City who rebelled against their aristocratic classmates by starting a band. Under the guidance of producer Pedro Damián (who previously guided Timbiriche to stardom), the six actors formed RBD as an extension of the show. The group is ready to introduce the U.S. to the charismatic charm and pure pop personalities that make RBD a true candidate for pop phenomena status. As the New York Times wrote in a front-page feature, "This is the making of Mexico's first worldwide pop brand."
