I’m taking the decision to postpone the inaugural Happyland Festival due to take place in September 2021. Unfortunately due to things out of my control we couldn’t put the show together at the standard that I wanted for the first ever event, so I feel the right thing to do is put the dream of Happyland on pause for now and look to next year. The idea of 15,000 people coming together under the Happyland banner filled my heart and gave me so much energy and I want to thank all of you who got YOUR tickets to this happy place, I’ll see you soon. - Slowthai

In anticipation of the return of live shows and festivals to our lives this summer and in belated-celebration of his number 1 album ‘TYRON’, slowthai invites you to Happyland - The Happiest Place in the Universe where the policy is simple: No Smile, No Entry.

The inaugural one day festival will take place at his local Cricket Ground in Northampton, just up the road from his mum's house. Curated by slowthai himself, the line up boasts some of the most exciting artists, riding high on their own unique wave in the UK today. Each representing a different facet of the UK music scene in 2021, a scene that is as universally trailblazing as slowthai himself. So what better way to celebrate being part of that than throwing a party in a field in his own hometown? Gathering family & friends for fun, good times and overdue carefree chaos.

As yet unable to have toured his recent album TYRON, Happyland gives fans a new shot at seeing him live this year as slowthai takes up the headline slot on the day. The incredible run of artists playing alongside him range from women slaying in their own lane; Greentea Peng, Shygirl and beabadoobee, to like-minded punk cohorts IDLES, laid-back Leicester five-piece easy life and local boy Izzie Gibbs. BBC Sound Poll winner Pa Salieu adds further anticipation to the line-up along with hotly tipped newcomer Ethan P Flynn.

Happyland will be held at Northampton Cricket Ground on Saturday September 25th; tickets are available on Friday 14th May at 10am from AXS.com.

On being a part of Happyland’s inaugural year, Pa Salieu says “mad love to my brother slowthai for having me be a part of his debut festival Happyland, gonna bring the energies for real. Midlands stand up!”. Beabadoobee adds “It’s going to be a wild day. I’m excited to be a part of Happyland and to play with so many great artists.” And Easy Life proclaim they’re “really looking forward to playing with some artists we have a lot of love for, Northampton Cobblers ready!”.

In February this year slowthai topped the UK album charts and the UK vinyl charts with his second album ‘TYRON’ selling more than double the units of his critically acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize nominated debut ‘Nothing Great About Britain’ less than 2 years ago. ‘TYRON’ has cemented slowthai’s path to being one of Britain’s most revered and celebrated rappers, but his journey has still only just begun. slowthai plays his ‘something to look forward to’ underplay tour of the UK earlier in September (sold out) ahead of a full blown live tour in March 2022 which includes 2 Brixton Academy shows.
