Dead Sara features strong lead females rockin' the music scene

Best known for their single "Weatherman," hard rock band, Dead Sara, formed in Los Angeles, CA in early 2000s. All of the band members had been exposed to music early in their childhood, and met through a friend. Shortly after they began writing songs and performed their first show as a band in 2005 at The Mint in Los Angeles. Much of their influence in their songwriting stems from Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks.

With only a debut album, their self-titled album and an earlier EP, The Airport Sessions, the band has quickly made a name for themselves for the past two years. Emily Armstrong, singer and Siouxsie Medley, guitar player, influence each other well, along with the added drummer, Sean Friday and bass player, Chris Null. With these reflective additions, the band perform high-energy shows and have been noted for their performances at such renowned venues as The Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Both Emily and Siouxsie are dedicated female musicians who inspire a new generation of women who are pursuing their love of music, and are doing it with pristine skill and dedication. For their music, they were bestowed 'Best New Rock Group' at the 2012 "Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards." Loudwire also named their single "Weatherman" as '10 Best Rock Songs of 2012.' Noting their energy and talent, lead singer and guitarist for the band Hole and Kurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love requested Armstrong sing backing vocals on her album, Nobody's Daughter. Grace Slick of Jefferson Starship and Jefferson Airplane fame, has also claimed that Dead Sara's lead singer, Emily Armstrong, as the only current female singer she admires.

Radio has been particularly friendly to Dead Sara, for they are known for their rotation of Dead Sara's singles, especially the heavy airplay of their hit single "Weatherman," and have been on tour with such popular rock bands as Bush, The Used and Chevelle. Their album reached the 16th spot on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums. In 2012, they were part of the Vans Warped Tour, and most recently have toured with Muse. They are currently in the studio working on their second album, due out sometime in 2014.
