Jim Jefferies has a lot of opinions about the land of the free and the home of the brave and he is sharing all of them in his new Netflix special, “Freedumb,” which premieres on July 1. In the trailer for the comedy event, Jefferies unleashes on the concepts of marriage and freedom, as well as the tempting proposition of a Trump presidency.
“Marriage is until death. That's a sh*t contract,” says the Australian-born comedian at the top of the clip. “A hundred years ago the life expectancy of an American was 52, now it's 83. F*ck that!” Jefferies goes on to analyze the climax of “The Star Spangled Banner” and what it truly means to live in a free nation.
Jefferies bold, unapologetic style of stand-up comedy is out in full force throughout “Freedumb” as he shares personal stories and takes on current issues like politics, religion and Bill Cosby. The special was filmed in front of a sold-out audience at Nashville's James Polk Theater.
“Jim Jefferies: Freedumb” marks the second time that the comedian is joining forces with Netflix for a comedy special. His 2014 release, “Bare” premiered on the streaming service following the more traditional releases of his previous specials including, “Fully Functional, “Alcoholocaust” and “I Swear to God.” He previously starred in his own FX series, Legit from 2013-2014.
Jefferies will be performing live in Las Vegas, NV later this week and after the premiere of “Freedumb,” he has plans to take his show across the pond for a string of performances in the UK. Birmingham, New Castle and London are just a few of the great cities where he will be performing. Later this summer, Jefferies is returning to The States to perform across California and beyond.
Jefferies has performed at some of the best comedy festivals around the world including Just for Laughs, Reading and Leads, Glastonbury and the Oddball Comedy Festival. He has also appeared on such hilarious TV series as “Not Safe with Nikki Glaser,” “@midnight,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Conan.”
Following the July premiere of “Jim Jefferies: Freedumb,” Netflix has plans to drop additional comedy specials including “Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy: We've Been Thinking...” and “Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills.” Hannibal Buress, Bill Burr, Mike Birbiglia and Chelsea Handler are just a few of the hilarious comedians who have previously premiered new specials on the streaming service.
