With a little bit of tough love and a lot of laughs, Ellen Degeneres isn't afraid to push her friends out of their comfort zones. Last week, she urged Britney Spears to fully embrace her celebrity at the mall and this week she’s helping Celine Dion broaden her musical horizons.
On an episode of the "Ellen" show, the comedian challenges the diva to portray rap songs to ensure she “keeps growing as an artist." Dion may be accompanied by a classical pianist, but she isn't belting out the heartfelt lyrics she’s accustomed to.
First, Dion launches into a soaring rendition of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre," which begets the question: “What was that? My career’s going to end to night.” Next, she gives us a startlingly poignant version of “Shots,” an extremely animated performance of “Work B**ch” and wraps with a jazzy take on Missy Elliot’s “Work It.”
Check out Dion’s creative impromptu spirit in the video below. After a summer tour, Dion will resume her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with 27 shows, kicking off Sept. 20. Grab tickets via AXS right here.
