Andrea and Veronica Bocelli were honored at the 19th annual Keep Memory Alive “Power of Love” gala held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on June 13. Along with the performances by Gloria Estefan, Robin Thicke and George Benson; Andrea Bocelli sang again with Celine Dion as the highlight of the evening.
Andrea Bocelli also performed “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and “Con te Partiro” before being joined by Dion. The duo performed "The Prayer” for the first time since 2011 bringing the crowd to its feet. After the performance, actress Sharon Stone, one of the supporters, walked on stage with Andrea Bocelli's daughter Virginia Bocelli, held by actress Sharon Stone. “The Prayer” was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song from the 1998 film “Quest for Camelot.” It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. It was originally released as the second single from Dion's Christmas album These Are Special Times and the first single from Bocelli's album Sogno. It then became the promotional single for Keep Memory Alive.
Power of Love 2014 honoree Gloria Estefan opened the show and then performed a duo with Martina McBride singing “In My Daughters Eyes.” Robin Thicke and George Benson also performed and celebrity supporters included Quincy Jones, Sharon Stone, Siegfried & Roy, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Jean Paul & Eloise DeJoria, Emilio Estefan, Suzanne Somers, Steve Schirripa, and Clint Holmes.
The Dom Pérignon reception started the evening and the three course celebrity-chef dinner was prepared by chef Giada De Laurentiis and the team of Wolfgang Puck. A live and silent auction items were offered including a week-long vacation on Sir Richard Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands.
Keep Memory Alive benefits the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and its fight against brain diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases.
