Green Death

Formed in 2012 by veterans of the Des Moines metal scene, Green Death quickly established an identity as champions of classic 80’s and 90’s thrash and death metal (as well as outliers such as Danzig and Type O Negative), complete with a twin guitar attack, powerhouse double-bass drumming, and vocal styles ranging from guttural screams to soaring melodic choruses.

Propelled by early triumphs, including festival performances (Knotfest, 80/35, LazerFest) and features in publications such as Decibel Magazine, Green Death has sustained that momentum through 3 full-length albums (2014’s self-released “The Deathening”, 2016’s “Manufacturing Evil”, released on ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s EMP label, and 2018’s “Hallowmass”, released on then-revived iconic metal label Combat Records), coast-to-coast tours, a stint as direct support and backing band for David Ellefson’s acclaimed “Basstory” tour, and countless local sets supporting heavy hitters such as Carcass, Stone Sour, Phil Anselmo and the Illegals, Soulfly, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more. 

In 2023, Green Death released a trio of singles (“Desmodus”, “Hell Lives”, and “Toxic Wasteland”), with an eye toward a 4th full-length release.
