Chicago-born Saxophonist Steve Coleman began his career with stints in the bands of David Murray, Sam Rivers, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Big Band, Michael Brecker, Abbey Lincoln, & Dave Holland.
Steve Coleman & Five Elements have released over twenty albums since 1986. Steve joined up with Cassandra Wilson, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Greg Osby, and Reggie Washington to form the M-Base Collective in the early nineties.
