Young Cities Biography
Rising from the plains of the rocky mountains is Colorado's own Young Cities. Playing almost one hundred live shows since 2007, and a having a brand new 5-song EP set for release, the four piece is poised for local and international appeal..... After playing music together for three years, front man Chance Scott-Burke and guitarist Tyler Briskie (formerly of Denver local band Lenore) started recording and demoing songs in late August of '07. Bassist James Morrison, after seeing great potential in the small project, joined a month later. Within weeks, Young Cities, under the name Hearts Like Lions, decided to put wheels on the project and start practicing for their first live show, in February of '08. One year of prolific writing and a 5-song demo later, the band decided the next step was to professionally record..... With a little luck, and some help from friends, the boys ended up at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles (i.e. Pet Sounds, Californication). In 5 days flat they produced an 11 song album and came back to Denver to finish mixing and mastering, and to finally release an album. In early 2010, the band changed their name to the present day Young Cities and the band released a short sample of the album named "Two songs." Soon after the release of the sampler the guys were forced to put the release of the album on hold. Now, with drummer Josh Ortega (formerly of Circle Takes the Square), Young Cities is ready to release their self-titled five song EP on November 5th of 2010..... Very thirsty for the long overdue release of the EP, they have recently been working hard to perfect and upgrade their live show. I have a strong feeling these songs will catch the attention of Denver and open the door for Young Cities.
