Lissy Trullie Biography

New York City musician Lissy Trullie is excited to announce the release of her highly anticipated debut EP Self-Taught Learner, due out February 17th on Brooklyn based indie American Myth Recordings. Beginning January 21st in Philadelphia, PA, Lissy Trullie will embark on a sixteen date tour with The Virgins, culminating with an EP release show at The Mercury Lounge in NYC on February 11th.

2008 saw Lissy Trullie's compelling songwriting and on point live performances steadily gain attention and fans around New York City. Time Out New York remarked that "Her dangerously cool tunes, which mash up dancey new wave, '60's girl-group sounds and the softer side of the Velvet Underground, hit upon the core aloofness that typifies most great New York rock. Simply put, Trullie's magnetism is the kind that can't be learned." Flaunt describes her as "an impeccably self-styled singer and songwriter--a sort of anti-Dylan, immaculately conceived by Grace Slick, birthed in a downtown alley at night, while 'Play With Fire' by the Rolling Stones echoed in the street." picked Lissy Trullie as one of the "Hottest New Bands Playing CMJ 2008," writing that there is "an elegance about Trullie's simple aesthetic, from the unadorned guitar work to her coy but monosyllabic lyrics, and she exuded a captivating vulnerability when her boyish voice grasped at higher pitches."

Lissy Trullie is also scheduled to perform in San Francisco at the opening of "Andy Warhol Live" at the DeYoung Museum on February 20th. The exhibition featuring major Warhol silkscreen paintings, album covers, illustrations, and photographs, brings together a wide variety of works depicting pop music royalty, including Elvis Presley, the Velvet Underground, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones among others.
