Street League Skateboarding Biography

Since its launch in 2010, Street League Skateboarding’s (SLS) mission has been to grow the popularity of street skateboarding worldwide. As the most elite competitive series in skateboarding, SLS elevates street skateboarding by showcasing the sport’s biggest stars as they compete in an easy-to-follow, instant-scoring format, that airs live on ESPN/ESPN2.

This year, Street League is undergoing its greatest phase of growth in creating the first true street skateboarding world tour. The 2013 SLS World Tour will expand into seven total events around the globe, with three being international. SLS will again feature the 20 top-ranked pros, battling it out for the largest prize purse in competitive skateboarding history with more than $2MM at stake. The seven event series culminates with the SLS Super Crown World Championship on August 25th. In total, the 2013 World Tour will include 11 live broadcasts in more than 198 countries with more than 40 hours of live content. The 2013 tour will have the most expansive television coverage professional skateboarding has received to-date.

The global expansion was made possible by Street League becoming the official organizer of street skateboarding at all four Summer X Games. Branded as "Street League at X", each event will include the 20 league pros and the winner of the local SLS Select Series. Street League at X events will feature the same quality course design, format, judging, instant ISX scoring, and prize money that are unique to SLS, while expanding the programming and media support behind the league.

The winner of each of the first six world tour events will receive a first place prize of $100,000 and a “Golden Ticket” guaranteeing them a spot into the SLS Super Crown World Championship at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Only eight pros qualify for the final event of the World Tour and have the opportunity to claim the title of Street League World Champion and the biggest first place prize in the history of the sport at $200,000.
