The full lineup has been announced for the Quantum Collective Southwest Invasion showcase at this weekend's South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, and it includes X Ambassadors, Of Verona, Wooden Wisdom, Civil Twilight, and Jukebox the Ghost.
The 2015 Southwest Invasion will take place on two separate stages over two days-- Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21. More than two dozen artists will perform at the event to support the Whole Planet Foundation's Musicians for Microcredit initiative.
"Our goal is to raise $5,000 at the event," Laura Goldfarb of Red Boot PR told AXS on Monday, "which would create 26 new microloans and empower 130 women entrepreneurs to lift themselves out of poverty."
X Ambassadors are best known for their 2014 hit collaboration with Jamie N Commons and featuring Jay-Z, "Jungle," which has been heard seemingly everywhere of recent. That includes the trailer for the upcoming video game "Battlefield: Hardline," in promotional spots for the DirectTV original series "Kingdom" starring Nick Jonas, and while advertising The CW's "Supernatural," MTV's "Teen Wolf," and Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black."
Interscope Records released their EP Love Songs Drug Songs in May 2013 and it subsequently reached No. 11 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart. The band then followed this with another EP, The Reason, which climbed to No. 7 on the same chart after its debut in April 2014.
Indie rockers Of Verona produced their debut album The White Apple in 2012 and have been steadily touring since, including Lollapalooza and a previous stint at SXSW. Their music has also been heard on "Teen Wolf," as well as in The CW's "The Vampire Diaries," its spinoff series "The Originals," NBC's "Grimm," and ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars."
Of Verona will appear on the Whole Foods Flagship Rooftop Main Stage from 5:10-6 p.m. on Friday, March 20, while X Ambassadors will perform on the Main Stage from 2-2:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
Among the other acts scheduled to perform are Wooden Wisdom, the DJ duo composed of actor Elijah Wood ("Lord of the Rings") and Zach Cowie, as well as South African rockers Civil Twilight and power-pop band Jukebox the Ghost. In all, Quantum Collective will be sponsoring almost two whole days full of music, with performances starting at 11 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
"The Quantum Collective Southwest Invasion has a reputation of showcasing artists on the verge of major breaks; previous events included performances by Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers," said Goldfarb. "We’re excited to watch the growth of the incredible artists on this year’s lineup."
The Quantum Collective Southwest Invasion is free and open to all ages; you can examine the full lineup for both days and stages at the website and get your tickets now at Eventbrite. If you're not attending SXSW, you can still stream the entirety of the showcase through WorldArts.
