Upcoming concerts for July 2016 in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, Utah and the surrounding areas always present some fantastic concerts during the summer time. Outdoor venues are extremely popular during the summer months with some venues allowing you to bring your own little picnic. With a little over two weeks left in July 2016, here are some concerts to catch for the remainder of the month.

Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots will be performing at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on July 16, 2016. The band that consists of the duo Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have been on the road for quite some time with their Emotional Roadshow World Tour with several shows selling out. The band was formed in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio by college friends Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih. The band name was inspired by a play, "All My Sons," by Arthur Miller, that Tyler was studying. It was about a man who had to decide what was best for his family after causing the death of 21 pilots during World War II when he knowingly sent them faulty parts for the good of his business. Twenty One Pilots' musical style brings a mix of piano (sometimes an electronic keyboard or keytar), synthesizer, drums, vocals and occasional ukulele.

The Piano Guys

The Piano Guys will be taking on the USANA Amphitheater July 16, 2016. This bunch of “ordinary guys” play classically influenced instrumental music to make a positive impact in the lives of people all over the world through their music videos, many of which are set at incredible locations. But to see them live is an experience in itself. The ‘guys’ consist of Paul Anderson, Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, and Al van der Beek. Their corroboration all began in St. George, Utah in Anderson’s piano store, The Piano Guys. Styx

Styx, one of the finest classic rock bands of all time, will be performing at the Kenley Amphitheater in Layton, Utah on July, 20, 2016. This long-standing rock band has rocked the stage for four decades since its inception back in 1972. Their show is energetic, multilayered, and an unforgettable experience. Styx has a rich history of hits that the audience can’t help but to break into a singalong with the band. "Come Sail Away" and "Lady" are just two of their songs in their arsenal of hits that fans are familiar with. Tickets are available on the Davis Arts Council Web site.

Keith Urban

Four-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban will be serenading fans at USANA Amphitheater on July 21, 2016. This premier songwriter, vocalist, musician and guitarist has seen a long list of groundbreaking firsts and accomplishments including the first Horizon Award winner in history to go on to win the CMA’s Male Vocalist of the Year, a title he’s won three times, and the coveted Entertainer of the Year. Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson will be gracing Salt Lake with his presence at the Red Butte Garden Amphitheater on July 28, 2016. The renowned musician, singer, songwriter, author, poet, actor and activist has a six-decade career and 200 plus albums. In the last five years alone he delivered nine new album releases (one that resulted in a Grammy Award win), released a Top 10 New York Times’ bestsellers book, headlined “Farm Aid,” an event he co-founded in 1985, and was also on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
