Broken Bells tickets
By Tara Hall / LiveDaily Contributor
Less than a month after the release of their self-titled set, Broken Bells have mapped their first US tour, hitting major markets from coast to coast this spring.
The indie-rock outfit, the latest project of The Shins' frontman James Mercer and producer Brian Burton (a.k.a. Danger Mouse), will take to the road beginning with a May 18 performance in San Diego. Before the June 11 wrap-up in Athens, GA, the band will hit clubs and theaters in 15 cities nationwide. The full schedule is shown at right.
Berkeley indie rockers The Morning Benders will provide opening support for the spring tour.
"Broken Bells," the act's Columbia Records debut, hit shelves earlier this month. The set peaked at No. 7 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on iTunes' album chart.
Mercer and Burton performed most of the instrumentation on the album themselves; Mercer provides vocals, guitar and bass while Burton played organ, drums, piano, synths and bass. A full string section, arranged by Daniele Luppi, was the only outside help.
Burton produced the 10-track set, which was recorded by Todd Monfalcone and Kennie Takahashi at Los Angeles' Mondo Studios.
Mercer and Burton plan to continue working together on future projects, according to a press release.
