Fans were very disappointed to hear that Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the PGA championship. USA Today reported on July 20, Woods will not be playing at the PGA championship at Baltusrol. His agent has said that Woods will not be playing at all for the remainder of this season.
Woods is a 14 time majors champion. This is the first time in his career as a professional golfer that he will miss all four of the majors in one season. Mark Steinberg, who is Woods' agent, has said in an e-mail to Golf Channel that Woods will not return to playing golf for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. Steinberg said Woods has been making progress but that he is simply not ready for the PGA. Woods is working hard in rehab and will assess at a later time if he will play in the 2016/17 season.
Woods has said that he hasn't been ready to make a return to professional golf ever since he had multiple back surgeries last fall. He has said his back has been sore on a daily basis. The 40 year old professional golfer has not played in a tournament since he tied for 10th place at the Wyndham Championship back in August 2015.
It has been reported by ESPN that Woods has now pulled the plug on all hopes of playing golf professionally this season. It is not now known when he will return to a PGA tour event. Harold Varner lll will be taking the spot that Woods has left vacant at the PGA Championship. It was the first time in his professional golfing career that Woods had missed three majors in a row when he withdrew from The Open at Royal Troon. Now with his withdrawal from the PGA Championship its four missed majors for Woods.
CNN .reports Woods has said he will not return to playing golf until he doesn't have any ill effects after he plays, practices and recovers day after day. Woods really seems to want to return to playing when he feels he can. With his 14 major champion wins he still seems to want to top the 18 major title wins of Jack Nicklaus. But Woods hasn't been the winner at a major since he won the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in 2008. Hopefully Woods will recover fully from his back surgeries and return to golf.
