Three more reasons to attend the Athena Arts Project Festival

The Athena Project Arts Festival is the only celebration of it’s kind in Colorado, dedicated to celebrating the work of female writers, actors, directors, musicians dancers, designers and every other form of artistic expression. It’s a massive festival that runs 17 days, featuring more than 200 artists on five stages, two galleries and with 40 performances. There is a lot to see and do at the annual festival, and much of it is centered around theater, but there are several other exciting offerings during the festival that are worth checking out. In addition to the many great theater options, here are some of the other exciting things to see during this year’s festival.

Evening of World Dance
March 25 at 8:00 p.m.
MSU Denver Center for Visual Art

Celebrate the many different styles of dance found all over the world. From Samba to Bollywood, these styles showcase just how women illustrate truth and beauty within modern society. Following the performance, there will be a short discussion with the choreographers, offering a glimpse into how choreography blends with emotional expression. Some of the featured artists for this event include The Beat Nomads Samba Colorado Dance Company, Baile Caliente, Flamenco Underground and Evalucien Dance Company.

Music Festival
March 29 at 6:00 p.m.
Cervantes’ Other Side

Enjoy lots of incredible local female musicians as they show off their stuff during the first music festival for the Athena Arts Project Festival. There is a huge variety of female musicians lined up, including Melissa Ivey The Gypsy Rocker, Serephine, The Horse Latitudes, Bianca Mikhan and Wheelchair Sports Camp. If you’re not familiar with the impressive talent of local female musicians, you’ll definitely want to check out this music festival, as it’s the best way to get to know the work of these amazingly talented musicians.

Truth and Perception Fashion Show Fundraiser and Boutique
April 1 at 7:00 p.m.

One of the most exciting and fun parts of the Athena Arts Project Festival, the Truth and Perception Fashion Show is a definite must-see. It’s a fascinating collaboration between fashion designers, models and performing artists. You’ll get to see lots of fun designs by local professional and emerging designers while also enjoying live dance and a chance to shop. Arrive early to get a goody bag filled with items from the Rocky Mountain College of Art an Design. The Fashion Boutique kicks off the night at 7:00 p.m. and the Fashion Show starts at 8:00 p.m.
