Seattle's own Soundgarden will be performing for free prior to the Seahawks regular season opener game against the Green Bay Packers.
Event Date/Time: Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Event Location: Centurylink Field
To kick off the 2014 regular NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks will have home field advantage and take on the Green Bay Packers, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014. Prior to the game, Seattle's own Soundgarden will be performing free, near Centurylink Field's North Gate entrance to the stadium. Gates will open as early as 2:30 p.m. and it is recommended anyone wanting to attend this free live performance, get there as early as possible.
Just prior to Soundgarden's performance, a free screening of "America’s Game: 2013 Seattle Seahawks" is scheduled to play at around 2:30 p.m. with the concert to begin right after. In addition to Soundgarden performing, Seahawks fans can expect to see performances by Ariana Grande and Grammy Award winner Pharrell Williams, as well. Altogether, the event is scheduled to last from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the official NFL kick off time.
No tickets are required to attend this free pre-game event and it is recommended that Seattle Seahawks season ticket holders arrive early and watch the free concert from within the Centurylink Field stadium. To reach the North Gate, attendees may enter at Second Ave. and S. King St. in Seattle. Access to the free concert will be on a first-come, first served basis, so it is best to arrive early and secure your place in line. If you cannot attend this free event, simulcast coverage will be provided on both the NBC and NFL networks.
Soundgarden will be wrapping up its North American summer tour with Nine Inch Nails, at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, WA, on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Also in 2014, Soundgarden released the 20th anniversary reissue of its 1994 album, Superunknown, which originally debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's 1994 charts and gave us Soundgarden's Grammy-winning hits, "Spoonman" and "Black Hole Sun." The reissue sold almost 6,000 copies and debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard Top 200 during its first week of release. As of June 2014, Superunknown has sold more than 3.7 million copies worldwide.
The first NFL match-up of the regular 2014 season on Sept. 4, will be the first time that the Seahawks and Packers face each other again at Centurylink Field, since the 2012 "Fail Mary" catastrophe. This time around, hopefully the teams won't experience crap calls like that. It's anticipated to be a great game and the current champs, the Seattle Seahawks, are more than ready to go up against the four-time Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers.
