Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails announce new summer tour dates

Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails are already planning to embark on a North American tour this summer and over the weekend the bands announced that they are extending their roadtrip slightly by adding three more West Coast concert dates.

The new dates include a performance at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Wheatland, Calif. on Aug. 27, followed by the Sleep Country Amphitheatre in Ridgefield, Wash. and the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Wash. on Aug. 29 and 30, respectively. The Auburn stop brings Soundgarden close to home, as it lies just about half an hour south of their grunge roots in Seattle.

Tickets for the additional dates will go on sale to the general public on Friday through Live Nation. Fans wanting to get an early jump on tickets can also get tickets through a presale, which began Monday at 10 a.m. local time on the bands’ respective websites. Additional presales will reportedly take place starting Tuesday.

The joint tour, which marks the first time the two bands have hit the road together, is scheduled to kick off on July 19 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and will wrap up with the Auburn stop. Death Grips will reportedly open the show on most dates. For NIN, the tour will support their eighth studio album entitled Hesitation Marks, which was released last August and received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album earlier this year.

For Soundgarden, meanwhile, the tour will support their 2012 album King Animal. The album sold 83,000 copies in its first week and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band has also announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Superunknown, hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest albums of the ‘90s, with two deluxe reissues scheduled to be released June 3.
