Rich Homie Quan (RHQ) and Think It’s A Game (TIG) Records finally reached a settlement after several months of suing and countersuing from both parties. The legal battle began towards the end of 2015 came to an end on Aug. 1, 2016 and resulted in Quan and TIG settling their dispute without going to trial.
The disputes started October last year when Quan filed a two million dollar suit against his record label, Thinks It’s A Game Records, and the CEO, Fly. According to the lawsuit, Quan had claimed Think It’s A Game Records along with Fly had deprived him of royalties for a lot of his music; including the singles Type of Way, Flex and many of his albums.
Less than a month later, Think It’s A Game Records responded with a counter lawsuit against the rapper. In the suit, Fly claimed that Quan failed to report to the label money he acquired from unauthorized music he released while under them.
Statements from those involved were released through an email from the Tara Thomas Agency regarding the settlement. When asked about how he felt with the lawsuit settlement, Quan said he was glad, the whole thing was over and now he could focus on his music career. He added that he can’t wait for his fans to hear his new music. Quan will have multiple offers from major labels pouring in for him, when asked how he felt about such and he smiled “I feel like LeBron James, I’m ready and looking forward to ending 2016 with a bang, my fans will not be disappointed.” "It will be cinematic, just like a movie", he added.
CEO of Think It’s A Game Records, Fly said he was upbeat and glad on the lawsuit settlement. “I am going to keep it short and sweet. We are family! We started together and we are going to finish together. It’s been a long ride, but get ready for Greatness. THINK IT’S A GAME!!!”
Quan’s Manager and father also had his thoughts to say on the legal settlement. “I feel relieved and I am glad that it came to an end. I never worried about us settling, because I knew my faith and trust in God would see us through".
In closing Corey Lamar left with this statement: "The definition of a settlement is when neither side gets exactly what they want".
